Eastspring Adds Singapore And Hong Kong Talent

, the Asian investment management arm of UK-listed Prudential plc, has made two senior hires to bolster operations at its Singapore and Hong Kong businesses. The firm has hired Francis Woo as chief financial officer, based in Singapore, and Joyce Chan as head of Intermediaries and general manager of the Hong Kong office. Chan’s post is subject to regulatory approval. As CFO, Woo will be in charge of the financial management of the business working closely with the regional teams, the group, which manages around $216 billion for clients, announced yesterday. Woo moves from TPG Capital, where he was CFO of its Asia business, and will report to Eastspring’s chief executive Wai-Kwong Seck in the new post. He will also join the firm’s management committee. Prior investment banking experience includes roles at Credit Suisse Group AG, UBS Investment Bank and Credit Suisse First Boston. In a second senior management addition as head of intermediaries in Hong Kong, Chan will be in charge of driving sales and distribution through Eastspring's wholesale and intermediary distribution channels, the firm said. She will report in the role to Glen Lee, head of intermediary sales, and based in Singapore. As general manager in Hong Kong, she will report to head of distribution at Eastspring, Xavier Meyer. Chan has previously worked at Allianz Global Investors, UBS Asset Management and HSBC Global Asset Management, and most recently held senior business development posts at PineBridge Investments Asia. The firm indicated that once her appointment is approved, Boon Peng Ooi will step down as CEO of the group’s Hong Kong business to focus on being chief executive and head of investment strategies for its Singapore business. This news service has reported on a number of senior appointments at the Asian investment firm during the last year, most notably the arrival of Wai-Kwong as CEO last April.
